Tirana Historical landmarks

The landmarks worth your time in Tirana sit within about a kilometre of each other. Skanderbeg Square was pedestrianised and repaved in 2017 and is now a genuine open space rather than a roundabout. On its eastern edge stand the Et'hem Bey Mosque, whose eighteenth-century frescoes survived the atheist state, and the Ottoman Clock Tower you can climb.

South along the boulevard is the Pyramid, Enver Hoxha's mausoleum-museum, left derelict for thirty years and reopened in 2023 with external stairs to the top. The Postbllok memorial nearby sets a real bunker beside a piece of the Berlin Wall.
