Five permanent collections run in order through Illyrian antiquity, Byzantium, the Ottoman centuries, the monarchy and the communist years, with particular weight on what the dictatorship did to the wives and daughters of the persecuted.

It is small and family-run, and visits are by appointment rather than walk-in, which suits the format: the visit is guided and conversational rather than a wander past cases. Labels and materials are in English, Albanian, French and Italian.
