Laid out as a landscaped complex rather than a formal garden, it runs to paths, planted beds and stands of mature trees, and the quiet is the point: few green spaces here put the traffic so thoroughly out of earshot.

It is a working institution attached to the university as well as somewhere to walk, so the labelling and the planting are more deliberate than in the recreational parks nearer the middle. Admission is charged and can be arranged in advance through the usual booking sites. Combine it with the Grand Park, which sits immediately to the north.
