It operates as a sister venue to The Jolly Taxpayer, the same team's other bar, and the two share a dry, self-mocking tone in everything they publish.

Tables can be reserved, it shuts for a week each August, and pitches itself at people who know what to order rather than people passing through. For a visitor staying on the west side that makes it a better local than anything in the tourist streets.
