The drink is rum, which the operator repeats like a creed, and the cocktails and the events are all titled after the novels.

Jazz and blues are the house music, the bar marks International Jazz Day each spring and has run a swing marathon, and it takes its concerts out into the street and into theatres beyond the capital. It calls itself a members' bar but says it is always open to good friends, which in practice means anyone who walks in with the right attitude.
