Tirana Souvenirs
Souvenir Shops in Tirana
The souvenirs that actually come from Albania are filigree silver, hand-woven wool rugs and blankets, carved wooden bowls and spoons, and the qeleshe, the white felt cap worn in the north. The double-headed eagle appears on everything from flags to fridge magnets. Concrete bunker miniatures are the modern joke souvenir and sell steadily.
Shops cluster around Skanderbeg Square and along the boulevard. Prices are fixed in the city, unlike the castle bazaar at Kruja half an hour north, where the same goods are sold in a restored Ottoman street and haggling is expected. Quality varies sharply, so handle the silver.
