It carried the road to Shëngjergj that linked Tirana to its eastern highlands, and until the 1930s it crossed the Lana between the butchers' shops and the leather workshops that gave it its name.

It is about seven and a half metres high, with a main arch spanning eight metres and a humped cobbled deck two and a half metres wide, flanked by two small segmental arches. The Lana was later channelled away from it, so it now stands over dry ground beside the boulevard; it was restored in the 1990s and is for pedestrians only.
