The Dajti Ekspres cable car climbs it from the eastern edge of the built-up area, taking roughly fifteen minutes and lifting you well over a thousand metres, with the whole Tirana plain opening out below and the Adriatic visible on a clear day.
At the top there is a hotel, restaurants and terraces built to face the view, a short adventure park and a set of walking paths into the national park behind. Most visitors come for the ride and an hour of looking, then go back down; the walking is genuinely worth staying for if the weather holds. Temperatures at the summit run several degrees below the city, which is the point in August and worth a jacket in spring and autumn.
The lower station is a short taxi ride from the centre, which is the part people underestimate: it is not walkable from Skanderbeg Square. The cable car does not run in high wind and closes on at least one weekday for maintenance in most seasons, so check before setting out. Half a morning covers it comfortably.
