Getting Around Tirana
Car hire and airport transfers from Tirana airport, city taxis, the intercity bus terminals and central parking.
Tirana International Airport, seventeen kilometres northwest at Rinas, is the only commercial airport in the country, so almost every visitor passes through it. The airport bus runs to the centre and back through the day; taxis and pre-booked transfers cover the rest.
Inside the city, distances are short enough to walk, and taxis are cheap for anything longer. A hire car is worth it only if you are leaving the city, which most people do at some point: the coast, Kruja, Berat and the south all reward driving. Intercity buses and furgon minibuses leave from terminals on the edge of the centre rather than one central station.
