Tirana Taxis

Taxis are the default way to cross Tirana. Fares are low, journeys inside the centre rarely take long, and the ride-hailing apps that operate here show the price before you accept, which removes the usual argument.

Street taxis should run a meter; agree the fare first if the driver will not use one. Ranks sit at Skanderbeg Square, the bus terminals and the larger hotels. Traffic is the real variable: the centre clogs badly at the start and end of the working day, and at those hours walking is often quicker for anything under a couple of kilometres.
