Albania's best edible exports are hard to buy outside it, which makes this a genuinely useful category. Mountain honey, olive oil from the south, sheep and goat cheeses, dried mountain tea and oregano, and raki distilled from grape, plum or mulberry are the things to take home.

Pazari i Ri is the obvious place to buy them: producers sell direct, you can taste before committing, and prices are lower than in the souvenir shops. A small number of specialist shops nearby bottle and package the same goods for travelling, which matters if you are flying. Check liquid limits before buying raki for hand luggage.
